The event at Aizome restaurant in Japan House São Paulo
Feb. 25, 2025 — Restaurant “Aizome” at Japan House São Paulo

Kyodo Dinner Kumamoto Edition

Held with about 60 local food service and cultural professionals and Nikkei guests with roots in Kumamoto. Nishida, on stage in samurai attire, proposed a toast with Kumamoto’s traditional akazake (red sake), joined by Sake Samurai Alexandre Iida. The chef’s special course featured Kumamoto products such as basashi (horse sashimi), karashi renkon (mustard-stuffed lotus root), sake, and rice crackers. One guest with Kumamoto roots brought an ancestor’s emigration certificate and spoke of longing for the homeland. We also received congratulatory words from the office of House of Councillors member Yoshifumi Matsumura, and the event was covered by local media.

Kyodo Dinner Hiroshima Edition

As the second edition following Kumamoto, we served a course featuring Hiroshima products such as Hiroshimana pickles, gansu (fried fish cake), and grilled conger eel. Composed as one continuous experience from appetizers through the main course and dessert, it brought Hiroshima’s food culture to local food professionals and the community, including members of the Hiroshima Prefectural Association. As with the Kumamoto Edition, it was covered by local media, and guests responded with deep emotion, reminded of their ancestral home.
